"Project Ephesus"

Hello all,

some of you might already have heard, but now might be a good time to tell you that I am attempting to write a story (Novel) of sorts. I've always liked writing, if it didn't have to do with school or a job or have a deadline of any sort. Recreational writing is much more fun. As from the Title of the post suggests, right now the "Book" will be called 'Project Ephesus' or 'The Ephesus Project'. No real need in getting a final title quite yet.

Now that I've peaked interest, perhaps you'd like to know a bit about my story?
Thought you'd never ask!
(which you probably didn't or never would have, but for the sake of argument..)

The story takes place in the year of 2151.
(Naturally it's going to be in the sci-fi, fiction genre.)
The Solar System has been roughly colonized and exploration of the Kuiper Belt has begun. The main focus is on the (now not really a planet) planetoid Pluto, (and surrounding areas.)
But perhaps I'm getting too far ahead of myself, lets go back to how my timeline alters from the one which we are living right now.



(The following is an excerpt from my own writing..It's totally fiction and any names, dates, or other things that might go into a silly list of things like this are purely coincidental. It is also a rough Prologue to my story and is subject to alterations or changes.)

The year is 2023 and it marks the year that the Communists in Russia, China, Cuba, Columbia, and the Muslims of the Middle East begin to attack the Free nations of the world. World War 3 begins and lasts over 7 years with multiple nukes used throughout the world. Parts of Russia, the Pacific, Texas, Middle Europe, and China were nuked. The US took care of Cuba, and helped out in Europe. France and the other European Nations joined forces to control Russia. The Muslims destabilized North Africa and conquered India, pretty much unchecked except by the Chinese and several African countries. A Peace-fire was signed in Paris, France on March 12, 2030.

2030, After the War had ended, thousands of Americans came to the aid of Europe. Establishing a strong American influence in Europe which would last for multiple decades.

2031, France stabilizes to its original borders, but the other original European nations do not fare well on their own. Namely Switzerland, Austria, Germany and Belgium. France incorporates these countries into a United Coalition of France or now widely regarded as the UCF.

2032, Russia joins the UCF. France is now strongly Americanized now but still recognized as independent from the USA. Which by now has split into five separate but still closely tied nations: New California, The Hawaiian Empire, The Alaskan Confederation, The Atlantic Union, and The Dakotan Alliance.

2033, UCF develops new space program. Australia and the USA follow soon after.

2036, All major powers of Earth have developed new technologies for space travel. The UCF have the most advanced Tech available and therefore takes the lead by establishing a permanent presence aboard the ISS.

In 2039, The UCF establishes a permanent colony on the moon, followed soon after by the USA, Australia, and The Chinese Syndicate.

2043, The Mars Orbital Station is constructed, under the control of the UCF.


2052, UCF-Jupiter Shipyards constructed.

2061, Lerrium is discovered by Robert Lerr. Nonradioactive and more efficient than Xenon, but not found naturally on Earth, Lerrium became the most sought after element in the Solar System.

2063, Lerrium discovered on Saturn's third largest moon, Lapetus.

2067-2082, The UCF begins a massive mining operation to Saturn, multiple Colonies established.

2098, Uranus's moons are colonized.

2114, Construction on Phillipi Station begins by the UCF in the orbit of Pluto.

2120, Phillipi Station is completed.

2123, Right away it seems the UCF doesn't treat the Plutonians as legitimate citizens. They want to use the colonists as miners for Lerrium.

2125, The Plutonians form a Union to gain rightful Citizenship with the UCF and go on strike until their demands are met, they send representatives to Earth for Negotiations.

2129, With the return of their delegates, and nothing having been accomplished but further agitations by UCF military. Curfew and other restrictions are forcefully imposed upon Phillipi Station and all denizens living there. Taxes are also imposed upon filtered water, Lerrium, and various other foodstuffs. UCF military then blockade the Station not allowing anyone to leave, unless they pay ridiculous fines. The UCF tourists and other civilians and citizens visiting don't stand for this outlandish behavior by their own Government, they start protesting the Blockade. The Plutonians join in, and the UCF military on board Phillipi try to ease things down, unfortunately shooting breaks out. 12 Plutonians and 5 UCF MPs are killed. Things skyrocket from there and the Plutonians then call themselves the Plutonian Union

2130, The USA and other space-faring countries don't want another major war to break out, they try to intervene and stop the one Major power (UCF) from killing their own citizens.

2131, The USA and Allies fail in attempting peace talks between the PU and UCF, minor scuffles occur throughout the Solar system on various Stations, owned by both the UCF and PU.

2132, Relations between Pluto and the UCF become strained to the breaking point, fights break out between ships, Pluto declares Independence, following in the footsteps of the American Founding Fathers.

2132-2135, The Plutonian War for Independence - Pluto gains Independence and becomes the New Plutonian Union. The NPU gains Uranus's moon colonies and complete control to the unexplored Kuiper Belt. As well as Pluto and its respective Lagrangian points.

2136, Large amounts of Lerrium discovered in Kuiper Belt.

2140, Relations between NPU and UCF become very strained again, attacks on Lerrium shipments break out among both sides.

2141, The Lerrium Wars goes into full momentum heavy losses on both sides (NPU & UCF), NPU begins the Ephesus Project.

2143, The Lerrium Wars end at a stalemate, The USA intervenes and imposes a cease-fire. The Almaida Accords are signed by all parties.

2143-2146, The USA maintains strict patrols along the NPU and UCF "borders". 2146, Peace talks begin.

2146-2150, NPU transport vessels and whole convoys mysteriously start to vanish from shipping lanes, the UCF denies these "attacks" and blames mercenaries with stolen UCF weaponry. Peace talks begin to falter.

2150, With peace talks subsiding, The NPU and UCF dissolve the USA's "Peace Patrols" and begin a "seemingly" peaceful coexistence. The Ephesus Project is completed and it's preliminary trials begin.

2151, With the last training exercise about to be completed the NPUV Atheon Stealth Class Cruiser, "Ephesus" is heading back to the Proving Grounds, to test the newly constructed ship.

The first dates in the list need to be a bit tweaked. I also need reasons for why right after a major world war, would a country try to spend alot of money on space travel all of a sudden. As you can see, I haven't implemented the idea I have about it into the list. A prime example of how anything I write is totally and completely subject to changes.
